Our Story
Coastal Cyclists is a recreational bicycle club established in Charleston, SC in 1972. We host a variety of weekly rides and promote cycling education, safety and advocacy in our community. Coastal Cyclists is affiliated with local, state and national cycling and cycling advocacy organizations.
Cycling for a purpose: For Fun, Fitness, Advocacy and Safety for all
Each spring, Coastal Cyclists proudly presents our annual spring century, Ride the Lowcountry (formerly The After the Bridge Run Ride). The event is the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts that support local and statewide cycling advocacy groups such as Palmetto Cycling Coalition and Charleston Moves. These organizations are pivotal in advocating for enhanced cycling infrastructure and safer cycling environments.
In addition to this flagship event, we organize weekly club rides, an annual oyster roast, and a festive holiday party for our members. We look forward to seeing you on the scenic roads and historic streets of the Charleston region!

“The After the Bridge Run Ride was such a blast. We’ve been coming down for the Bridge Run for year, but had never brought our bikes. I am glad we did. The 33 mile route was a lot of fun. Riding through the marsh was very beautiful. The rest stops were well stocked and everyone was super friendly. Can’t wait for next year!”
— Sandy Packer
